Linda Jean (Elliott) Jandik, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Monday, Nov. 8, 2021. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home with burial following.
Linda was born March 28, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Robert Earl Elliott and Jean Alta (Weis) Elliott. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1964. She married Stanley George Accola on June 5, 1966. They had a daughter, Robinette Lynn Accola (Shaver) July 15, 1968. He died in 1973. She married David Richard Jandik April 5, 1975.
She attended Paris Beauty Academy, graduating in 1965. She also attended Kirkwood Community College and received an administrative assistant's degree in 1975. In 2004, she decided to return to college to complete in business administration at the University of Dubuque, commuting back and forth from Cedar Rapids for two years. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 2006 with high honors.
Linda worked as a beautician at various salons until 1968 when she became a stay-at-home mom. Following graduation from Kirkwood, she reentered the work force as an administrative assistant at Hoover Health Council. When that office closed, she began working at Dee, Gosling and Co. CPA's, working as a bookkeeper and tax preparer. It was during this time that she passed the Enrolled Agent's Exam and became an enrolled agent licensed to practice before the IRS.
She left Dee, Gosling and began working as an office manager at Mitchell & Benson Photography, a commercial photographic studio and lab. She worked there for 10 years and in 1990 purchased Mike Mitchell Photography, a commercial studio, and ran the business until it closed in 2003.
Following graduation, she began working as an administrative assistant and treasurer at Cedar Christian Church. She remained there until the office closed to the flood of 2008.She than began working as an administrative assistant at St. Paul's United Methodist Church until her retirement.
Linda served many years as a finance director for the Neighborhood Meal and Enrichment Program, a non-profit serving meals in the summer for food disadvantaged. She was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church and served in various positions over the years, including finance director. Her faith was very prominent in her life and contributed to her positive outlook, even when things did not go as she had planned. She believed in God's plan for her.
She was a member of Emmaus Community and her Emmaus Gentle hearts Group of Christian Sisters. They were a great support to her throughout the ups and downs of her life.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, David; her children, Robin (Matt) Shaver, Kay Jandik and Ken (Amber) Jandik; her sister, Sheryl Neal; grandchildren, Joe (Jacey) Slaton, Raelynn Shaver, Cameron Shaver; great-grandchildren, Amira Shaver, Tavarrion Johnson, Wyatt and Elliott Slaton; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jean Elliott; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and her first husband, Stanley.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be directed to Salem United Methodist Church.
