LINDA JANE SZABO

Linda Jane (Davis) Szabo, passed away Jan. 28, 2022, at home with family, after a
long battle with COPD. She was born April 20, 1945, to Frank and Hattie Davis in Rice Lake, Wis. The youngest of 12 close siblings, known to them as "Baby Girl."
Linda married Merle Beeson in 1964, later remarried Robert Szabo Jr. for almost 46 years. A devoted mother to Brett Beeson, Chad Szabo and Robert Szabo III and Grandmother to "many."
Family was always important to her and she treasured the time spent with her boys. A first class caretaker of abandoned animals, from raccoon to squirrels, baby rabbits to large dogs.
She worked at Collins Radio during the Apollo Missions and taught classes on grooming dogs at Kirkwood. Then opening her own business "Szabo's Pet Palace" in Czech Village. She loved taking care of animals, enjoying over 40 years as groomer and befriended by many loyal customers through the years.
A very special thank-you to Laurie Mahoney-Willger for the care, keeping her home at this time.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Jr.; sons, Brett Beeson (Shelly), Chad (Kathy) Szabo and Rob (Liz Green) Szabo III, all of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Larry) Taylor and Beverly (Jim Tangen) Tieskoetter, all of Castalia; and many relatives and friends.
Memorials can be made to The Cedar Valley Humane Society, Pets-for-Vets Program, 7411 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403.
Please join us for a Celebration of Life, to be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the VFW Lodge 788, located at 3240, Southgate Place SW, Cedar Rapids.
Interment will be at a later date.
