Linda Eileen Roesler, 73 of Iowa City, Iowa, passed away on Jan. 15, 2022, at home surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Mapleton, Iowa.
Linda was born to Herbert and Juanita (Christensen) Ernst on July 6, 1948, and was raised on the family farm in Mapleton, Iowa. She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1966 and attended St. Joseph's Mercy School of nursing in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1969. Linda dedicated her life to helping so many in need and in 2005 was chosen as one of the top 100 Great Iowa Nurses.
Linda married Curtis Roesler in 1970. They were blessed with two children, Cari Heather on January 7th, and Matthew Brett on July 17th.
When Linda and Curt retired, they spent their time traveling with family and friends. They loved to travel to Hawaii (Maui). Linda loved to garden, enjoyed watching movies with her husband Curt, reading and spoiling her grandchildren.
Linda is remembered by her love and devotion to family, friends and especially her grandchildren who she adored. She will be greatly missed by those who called her Honey, Mom, Mama, Nana, Lala and Linn. Linda was proud of her children and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Linda's memory are her husband, Curt; children, Cari Zeimet (Matthew) of Fairfax, Iowa, and Matthew Roesler (Jodie) of Des Moines, Iowa; three grandchildren, Cameron and Brayden Zeimet and Dylan Roesler; sisters-in-law, Celesta Ernst of Colorado and Nadine Sebastian of Missouri; brother-in-law, Gerard Roesler of Florida; and many extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father; beloved mother and stepfather, Martin and Juanita Thies; siblings, Robert and Nancy Ernst; and many other family members.
