Linda D. Clear, 70, of Coralville, died peacefully Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at the Mercy Iowa City Hospice. Funeral services to celebrate Linda's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 7, at Lensing
Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, with Deacon Jerry Miller officiating. Entombment will be in the Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the
funeral home.
Linda was born April 1, 1943, in Iowa City, the daughter of Harry and Gladys Netser Embree. She was a graduate of Wellman High School. On Sept. 5, 1970, Linda married John Clear in Rock Island, Ill.
Linda had been employed at the University of Iowa laundry, retiring in 2005. Prior to that, she had managed the Markee Lounge in Coralville and worked at ACT. Linda loved people and enjoyed time spent gardening, sewing and crocheting. She was a member of the Gold Wing Club. She will be greatly missed.
Linda is survived by her husband, John; her son, Rick (Deana) Cobb of Westchester; three grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Plank of Iowa City and Susan Melzow of Wellman; sister-in-law Barb (Joe) Meade of Woodbury, Minn.; and extended
family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Sam Cobb; stepson, Michael Clear; and her brother, Robert Embree.
