Linda Joy Bowman was born July 21, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Lloyd and Elsie (Crutchley) Bowman. Growing up in this area, she graduated from University High School in Iowa City. Following this, she received her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Kirkwood Community College. For over 25 years she worked in Central Sterilization of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
As a young person, she grew up on the farm, and she loved everything about the farm, especially the horses and hard work. Linda married Richard A. "Dick" Carter on July 30, 1979, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple enjoyed much in their lives: traveling, motorcycling, camping, the casino, dining out often, Native American Culture and, without a doubt the most important, her family! She was there to support the kids in all their activities, and when she became Grandma, this was the icing on the cake. She dearly loved her grandkids.
Her family includes her husband, Dick; children, Jeremy and his wife, Randi Jelinek, of North Liberty and Cassie Carter of North Liberty; grandchildren, Elijah and Noah; her brother, Rich Bowman and his wife, Evie, of Dows, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Jason Bowman, Stephanie Niehus, Cherish Rahija, Holly Rahija, Robert Rahija and Emily Rahija; and other family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ruth Rahija; and two aunts, Irene Crutchley and Ethel Green.
