Lind, Kelley
Kelley Lind, 33, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at home, surrounded by her family. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father John Spiegel officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a vigil service will be at 7 p.m. The family will greet friends after 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Kelley was born May 3, 1979, in Santa Rosa, Calif., the daughter of Patrick and Catherine Cooper Lind. Kelley was a graduate of Regina High School, received her bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa and her Master of Education degree from Northern Arizona University.
Kelley was a child life specialist in pediatric oncology at Cardon Children's Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz., for the past six years. She recently returned home to the warm embrace of her family and friends who cared for her in her final days. Before moving to Phoenix, Kelley had been employed at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Children's Hospital in Baltimore.
Kelley brought great joy and smiles to patients and staff at Cardon Children's Hospital, where she was the chief morale officer, party planner and could dance her pants off.
Kelley will be greatly missed but her star will shine in the hearts of all those she touched.
Kelley is survived by her loving parents, Patrick and Katie Lind, and her brother, Riley, all of Iowa City; grandparents, Frank and Phyllis Cooper of Waterloo; and over 100 aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thomas and Barbara Lind of Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Beads of Courage or Iowa City Hospice.
