Lilly, LaVonne Rae (Lloyd)
LaVonne Rae (Lloyd) Lilly, died peacefully Feb. 19, 2013, at Oaknoll in Iowa City. There will be a memorial gathering at Oaknoll Retirement Community, 1 Oaknoll Ct., Iowa City, on Monday, Feb. 25, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. A private family burial will be held at Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Von was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Barron, Wis., daughter of Fred and Gladys (Blair) Lloyd. She graduated from Barron High School and attended business college. Von married Gilbert Everett Lilly, her high school sweetheart, on Oct. 23, 1954. Gil joined the military and together they raised a family and lived an active military life around the world. After retiring from the military in 1975, they moved to Iowa City, Iowa, where Gil joined the University of Iowa Dental School faculty.
Von was devoted to her husband, Gil, their children and grandchildren. Von loved to entertain family, friends and colleagues.
She is survived by her children, Scott Lilly, Tulsa, Okla., and Kim Lilly (Lynn Sigler), Iowa City; grandchildren, Rachel, Ethan, Everett, Ryan, Jennifer and Shane; her great-grandchildren, Azalea, Nash and MJ; and brothers, Chuck (Donna) Lloyd, Barron, Wis., and Larry (Charron) Lloyd, Beaver Dam, Wis.
Von was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The family wishes to thank Patricia Heiden and all the Oaknoll staff for her loving care and the staff of Iowa City Hospice for their invaluable assistance.
