Lilly Mathilda Carter passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg at the age of 90 years.
Lilly was born Nov. 3, 1926, in Williamsburg, the daughter of E. Albert and Anna Katherine (Teggatz) Lorenz. Lilly was united in marriage to Eugene Arthur Carter on Sept. 18, 1946, in Williamsburg. She worked at Middle America Motel, Crest Motel and the Landmark throughout the years, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Lilly enjoyed gardening, cutting coupons and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Jerry (Diane) Carter of Grand Prairie, Texas, Arthur (Becky) Carter of Willow Springs, Mo., Lyle (Vicki) Carter of Williamsburg and Stanley Carter of Erath, La.; nine grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000; son, Randy in 2011; three brothers, Friemond, Orville and Ferdinand Teggatz; and four sisters, Katherine Huedepohl, Pauline Collingwood, Eleanora Hunzelman and Laurena Gorsh.
Celebration of Life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Pastor Gary Sears will officiate. Burial is in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
