LILLIAN SCHMINKE

Lillian (Koss) Schminke, 87, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Prairie Hills. Funeral services will be 10
a.m. Tuesday, June 17, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Atkins. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church in Atkins.
Lillian was born July 24, 1926, in Linn County, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Navratil) Koss. She was a 1944 graduate of Wilson High School. Lillian worked at Inter-Ocean Reinsurance Co. for three years before her marriage to Carl Schminke on Sept. 14, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids. Lillian lived on the family farm near Atkins, which in 1967 became a century farm. Lillian and Carl moved to town in 1981.
She was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed listening to Daniel O'Donnell music and playing cards.
Lillian is survived by her children, Dennis (Carol) of Atkins and Darwin (Carla) of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Mindy (Jay) Kimm, Tanya (Dan) Reade, Dion (Kristin) Schminke, Danielle Schminke and Shawn Schminke; great-grandchildren, Colton, Tyler and Caleb Kimm, Jaiden and Brock Reade; and a brother, Leo (Arlene) Koss.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Carl, in 2002.
