LILLIAN "LYNN" PETERS
Cedar Rapids
Lillian Louise "Lynn" Peters, 69, of Cedar Rapids, passed away at home after a courageous 10-year battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband, Duane; their children, Vicky (John) Shanley of Onalaska, Wis., Tracy (Aaron) McCarthy of Marion and Jason (Barb) Peters of Caledonia, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Celia Kennedy of Holmen, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Schweinfurth and Lloyd Wintrick.
Lynn was born May 7, 1945, in Waukon, Iowa. Most recently, she worked at Rockwell in Coralville, where she was employed for 16 years before her retirement as a result of her battle with cancer.
Lynn enjoyed life. She and her husband, Duane, met and married as teenagers and spent 51 years together. The love they shared was an inspiration to all. That love shined through to her children and grand-children. Whether she was "Mom" or "Grandma," she was always there and cared for her family. She knew just the right words to fit any occasion – good times and bad. She told it like it was and often ended her words of encourage-ment with "this too shall pass."
She will be remembered for her strength, compas-sion and support of others.
A big part of Lynn's life involved her love for her pets over the years. Her compassion and care for the countless animals she rescued and homed over the years is a testament to the beautiful person she was.
Per her wishes, there will not be a public memorial service. However, the family requests you tell your family and friends you love them and please lift a toast in Lynn's honor as she starts her next great adventure.
Arrangements are by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where you may share a memory of Lynn at www.murdochfuneral home.com under obituaries.
