Lillian "Lil" Louise Lonergan, 90, a longtime Cedar Falls resident, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, at Valley View Village, Des Moines. The family will receive friends 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township,
near Victor, Iowa. The funeral begins at 10:30 a.m. with lunch immediately following, also at the church. A 1 p.m. graveside service will be held at the IOOF Cemetery, Marengo, Iowa.

Lillian Louise Lonergan was born the daughter of Clarence and Eva (Keller) Schultz at home Dec. 31, 1930, in Lincoln Township, Iowa County, Iowa. She graduated from Guernsey High School in 1948.
Lil married James Lonergan June 13, 1953, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township. Prior to marriage, she taught parochial school. For many years, she served as the Redeemer Lutheran Church organist in Waterloo. A longtime member of College Hill Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, she enjoyed quilting, weaving, gardening, reading, fishing, camping and antiquing.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Bill) Cornils of Fairfield, Calif., Pat (Tom) Wollan of Des Moines, Iowa, and Nancy Lonergan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren, Adam Coughlin, Aaron Cornils, Lauren DeVan and Megan Stephens; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Shirley Gullickson of Alta, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Lonergan; and her brother, Kenny Schultz.
