LILLIAN A. JAMES

Lillian A. James, 88, formerly of Luzerne, passed away Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at the home of her son in Indianapolis.
Lillian was born April 6, 1929, to Louis and Emma (Zema) Yuska. She attended school in Clutier, Iowa. After attending school, she had a variety of jobs, including working as a hired girl and in factories.
On April 9, 1950, she married Orrin James at the Congregational Church in Belle Plaine. They spent 53 years together, 43 of them on their farm near Luzerne. They had three children, Kay, Jerry (Gina) and Merwin (Marla), and four grandchildren, Sara and Nate James and Samantha and Damien James.
Over the years, Lillian had a variety of hobbies and interests, including doing crafts and attending shows, baking kolachies and pies, listening to music, and going to dances. She became a big fan of Daniel O'Donnell and enjoyed attending his concerts.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at First Congregational Church, Belle Plaine, with Pastor Kate West officiating.
Lillian is survived by her children; grandchildren; and six sisters, Irene Valenta, Doris Lohf, Pauline Schutz, Marlyz Clough, Shirley O'Conner and Joanne Farrel.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Arthur and Robert.
Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service in Belle Plaine. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.
