Libbie J. Fields, 95, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Ridgeview Care Center following a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. James United Methodist Church by Pastor Carol Sundberg. Burial: Czech National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family after 9 a.m. Friday at the church. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Survivors include her son, David (Marilyn) Fields of Cincinnati, Ohio; and grandchildren, Holly, Jackie and Amy Fields.
Libbie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (1987); brothers, Jerry and Mike Holecek; and sister, Olga "Holly" Kelly.
Libbie Jennie was born June 24, 1918, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Anton and Marie (Tichy) Holecek. She married Richard Eugene Fields on Sept. 19, 1942, in Cedar Rapids. Libbie worked at United State Bank for 15 years, retiring in 1978.
She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, Western Fraternal Association, Ladies Education Society and United Methodist Women. She also was involved with the Czech Heritage Foundation and Czech Heritage Foundation Scholarship Fund for many years.
Memorials may be directed to St. James United Methodist Church in Libbie's name.
