Lewis William Turner, 91, of Anamosa, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at Pinicon Place in Anamosa. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion.
Survivors include three children, LuEllen Turner of Cedar Rapids, Richard Turner of Chesapeake Bay, Md., and Catherine Trumm of Central City; and two grandchildren, Lina Thompson and Matt Trumm.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Allene; his parents; sister, Doris Fry; and brothers, Ben and Bill.
Lewis was born June 2, 1925, the son of William and Lina (Trumpold) Turner in Marengo. He graduated from Marengo High School in 1943. Lewis was a staff sergeant, serving with the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean conflict. On April 9, 1947, he married Allene Fisher. She passed away May 16, 2011.
He was a manager at Wonder Bread in Cedar Rapids. Lewis was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
