LESTER WULFEKUHLE

Lester F. Wulfekuhle, 80, of Edgewood, passed away at his home in Edgewood surrounded by his family on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015.
He was born June 13, 1935, on the family farm north of Earlville, the son of Clem and Marie (Vaske) Wulfekuhle. Lester attended SS. Peter & Paul Catholic School in Petersburg.
On Jan. 27, 1959, Lester was united in marriage to Elaine Roling at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colesburg. After their marriage they began farming. In 1966 they moved to a farm south of Strawberry Point, where they farmed until 1993, when they moved to Edgewood. Their son then began farming the family farm.
Lester was a faithful member of St. Mark's Catholic Church. He enjoyed polka music, farming and farm machinery.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Elaine Wulfekuhle of Edgewood; his 10 children, Richard (Deanne) of New Vienna, Marjorie (Steve) Albright of Omaha, Neb., Ron (Arlene) of Ryan, Dan (Jane) of Delhi, Sheri (Brian) Hastings of Deerfield, Ill., Russ (Jen) of Manchester, Scott (Tina) of Farley, Kara (Ed) Dunham of Waukee, Marty (Rita) of Strawberry Point and Tami (Michael) Klimpel of Rosemount, Minn.; 26 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way; one brother, Wildred (Joanne) of Winslow, Ill.; two sisters, Virgenette Hoffman of Dyersville and Leveda Drees of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lori Sue Wulfekuhle, in 1988; five children in infancy, Scott G., Robert, Tracie, Cindy and Ann Marie; two brothers, Leroy (Madonna) and Jerome (Alice); and two brothers-in-law, Albin Hoffman and Donald Drees.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Edgewood, by the Rev. John Haugen. Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Edgewood. Friends also may call one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment: St. Joseph's Cemetery, Greeley.
