LESTER JOSEPH MIKULECKY SR.

Lester Joseph Mikulecky Sr., 101, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at Crestview Care Center in Maquoketa. Celebration of Life services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Salem United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Lester was born Feb. 28, 1916, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Joseph and Emma (Unzeitig) Mikulecky. He was united in marriage to Maxine Sproston on June 7, 1941, at Bertram United Methodist Church, Bertram. He was a milk delivery man for over 39 years with Dows Dairy. Following his retirement in 1980, he worked five years at Howard R. Green.
He is survived by his children, Sharon Ernberger of Cedar Rapids and Lester (Christine) Mikulecky Jr. of South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Jeff (Lisa) Wittmer, Dusty (Monica) Ernberger, Heidi (Terry) Dunlay, Derek (Kristi) Ernberger, Lester Mikulecky III, Jeremy (Sidni) Mikulecky, Joshua (Heidi) Mikulecky and Jonathan (Hannah) Mikulecky; great-grandchildren, Logan (Elaine), Spenser, Michael, Lindsey, Brett, triplets Austen, Caitlen and Brooklen, Max, Ezra, Eva, Ellie, Asher and Miles; two great-great-grandchildren, Fletcher and Henry; his son-in-law, Larry Wittmer of Cedar Rapids; a brother-in-law, Larry (Janelle) Sproston of Lisbon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maxine, who died Feb. 28, 2012; his daughter, Kathleen Wittmer, who died Oct. 22, 2016; his sister, Ruth (Louis) Cerveny; and his brother, William (Evelyn) Mikulecky.
