LESLIE "LES" H. CORE

Leslie "Les" H. Core, 85, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, with a Masonic service provided by Trojan Lodge 548 at 7 p.m. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the funeral home, where the family
will greet friends for one hour before the service. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Les is survived by his wife, Pat; sons, Kenneth (Linda) Core of Fishers, Ind., and Keith (Patti) Core of Flagstaff, Ariz.; daughter, Teri (Steve) Schmidt of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wyatt; mother, Laura; brothers, Neal, Gene and Robert; and sister, Faye.
Les was born April 27, 1931, in Lebanon, Mo., the son of Wyatt and Laura (Garrett) Core. On July 31, 1970, in Marion, Les married Patricia Core. He worked as a parts and service adviser for Grant Williams Ford and then owned and operated Auto Damage Appraisers.
Les was a member of the Cedar Rapids Consistory and longtime member of Marion Lodge No. 6, recently of Trojan Lodge No. 548. Les was very active in the El Kahir Shrine, El Kahir Shrine Greeters and El Kahir Hospital Dads. Les loved being involved with the Shriner organization in many ways.
