LES ROGERS Cedar Rapids Les Rogers, 67, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, with interment in the Riverside Cemetery with military honors. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include his wife, Amy Koppenhaver; sisters, Jacque (Bill) Lenihan, Solon, and Claudette (Dave) Giannetto, Marion; his mother-in-law, Janice Koppenhaver, Anamosa; sisters-in-law, Marla Spinler, Anamosa, Cindy Koppenhaver, Cedar Rapids, Kathi (Elizabeth) Koppenhaver, Hearne, Texas, and Susan Koppenhaver, Anamosa; brother-in-law, Tom (Diane) Koppenhaver, Borrego Springs, Calif.; nieces and nephews, Jason (Khayala), Jesse, Justin, Livi, Scott (Kenzie), Andrew (Emily) and Summer; and several great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Tom Koppenhaver; and nephew, Sam Spinler. Lester William Rogers was born Aug. 29, 1949, in Iowa City, Iowa. He was the son of Billy and Barbara Branson Rogers. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. Les served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked most of his life as a truck driver. He drove for Quaker Oats, West Side Salvage and B&B Trucking. In more recent years, he was a truck driving instructor for Kirkwood Community College and later was the driver examiner. In 2012, Les received a new kidney from Chris Butler, who became a special friend to the whole family. Les loved to go fishing and play golf. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and getting together with family and friends.
