Leota Mae Kline-Akers, 87, of Anamosa, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids surrounded by family. Funeral service: 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Leota was born Nov. 18, 1927, the daughter of Martin and Magdalena (Knodell) Ohlhauser in Keif, N.D. She worked as a homemaker most her life. On May 6, 1946, she was married to John Kline. He passed away in 2002. She then was married to Vern Akers, who passed away earlier this year. Leota loved dancing, embroidering and playing cards. She was an excellent cook and baker. Leota greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and of course her cat.
Survivors include her son, Larry (Nita) Kline; daughters, Janet (Dennis) Waddle and Darla (Kevin Hackert) Stephen; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ernie (Julie) Ohlhauser; and sister, Leona Morarie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two spouses; grandson, Mike Nelson; and four siblings.
