LEONE GRACE (MILLER) SEBOLDT

Leone Grace (Miller) Seboldt, 92, died Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the Vinton Lutheran Home following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 26, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne with the Rev. David Rempfer officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Newhall. A memorial fund has been established. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
Leone Grace Miller was born Nov. 29, 1924, to Philip and Emelia (Buettner) Miller, in rural Benton County. She graduated from Vinton's Lincoln High School in 1942 as the class valedictorian.
On May 5, 1943, Leone was united in marriage to Albert Gottlieb Seboldt in Miami, Fla. The couple farmed in the Van Horne area until retiring in 1986. Albert preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2011.
She was a longtime and faithful member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne, where she sang in the church choir, taught Sunday school and catechism, and was an active in the Mission Society. Leone was an exquisite seamstress and quilter. She also enjoyed traveling, doing crafts, reading and playing cards.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Reese; her sons, John and Terry and wife June, all of Columbia, Mo.; her nine grandchildren; her 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy, in infancy; son, Thomas; grandson, Jason; brothers, William (Alma), Arthur (Laura) and Elmer (Mary); and sisters, Paula (John) Demmel, Elvira (Ralph) Norris and Esther (Jim) Self.
