Leonard L. Wiedenman, 97, of Manchester, died Thursday, May 25, 2017. Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, May 29, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, at First Lutheran Church, Manchester, by the Rev. Tony Ede. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Leonard was born Sept., 1, 1919, in Monona, Iowa, the son of Fredrick and Christina (Lienau) Wiedenman. On May 21, 1942, Leonard was married to Irene Sander in Postville. Leonard was a machinist with Cherry-Burrell Corp. in Cedar Rapids.
Leonard was a member of UAW Union 1024, First Lutheran Church, Manchester, and a founding member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
Leonard is survived by his children, Donna Schilling of Cedar Rapids, Carol (Rick) Reed of Gainesville, Ga., and Dennis (Marsha) Wiedenman of Manchester; grandchildren, Tammy (Matt) Gasper, Tanya (Chuck) Mangold, Todd (Tracy) Wiedenman, Doug (Barb) Niman, Nan Louis, Amy Reed, Molly MacDonald, Casie (Troy) Fadness, Bobbie (Quinton) Ites and Thomas (Kelly) Martin; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Makayla, Katelyn, Mitchel, Amber, Autumn, Alissa, Ashley, Sydney, William, Brett, MacKenzie, Patrick, Morgan, James, Charlie, Hannah, Max, Mason, Paige, Emma, Hailey and Madison; one brother, Edwin Wiedenman of Farmersburg; and one brother-in-law, Wayne (Jean) Sander of New Hampton.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene; and siblings, Margaret Olson, Wesley Wiedenman and Fredrick Wiedenman.
Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church in Manchester in Leonard's memory.
