Leonard, Terry Lang
Terry Lang Leonard, 57, of Muscatine, formerly of Toledo, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at his home in Muscatine. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Worship Center in Toledo with Pastor Mary Schnepf officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Terry was born Jan. 1, 1952, in Long Beach, Calif., the son of Lang J. and Elizabeth (Barnett) Leonard. He graduated from South Tama County High School in 1971. On July 28, 2000, he was united in marriage to Rhonda Staker in Muscatine. He was an owner of Rolling Oats Limited Trucking Co. Terry enjoyed spending time in his backyard, where he loved landscaping, working with plants, flowers, and birdhouses. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles with friends and going on trips.
Terry was a very generous and giving person who liked to help people. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends. In his younger years, he liked riding his horses, Sonny and Poco, and was a member of the Ridge Riders Saddle Club.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda of Muscatine; his mother, Elizabeth (Jack) Bates of Tama; his father, Lang J. (Eris) Leonard of Cedar Rapids; five children, Tammy (John) Leonard-Fuller of Omaha, Neb., L.D. Leonard of Gilman, Eric Leonard of Clear Water, Fla., Daniel Leonard of Des Moines and Marshall Leonard of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Brenda Lukasko of Cedar Rapids, Nancy (Mike) Purk of Toledo and Sharon Campbell of Toledo; a stepbrother, Scot (Shelley) Taylor of Tama; his aunt, Sue (Paul) Allen of Trenton, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
