LEONA SMITH

Leona J. Smith, 81, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014. Friends may call from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
Leona is survived by daughters, Abigail Walters and Teresa Augustine, both of Cedar Rapids; son, Grant Smith and wife Tammy, Shueyville; eight grand-children; four great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way; sister, Rosemary Miller, Tulsa, Okla.; and brother, William Cooper of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jason Roy Walters; parents, Hiram and Marie Cooper; and a sister, Betty Jane Cooper.
Leona loved fishing and being surrounded by nature. She loved having the wind in her face and collecting all sorts of things.
A memorial fund has been established.
