Leona Helen Rummelhart, 83, of Iowa City, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at the Solon Care Center. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Iowa City. Visitation will be from
4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens, Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial donations to the Solon Care Center, Iowa City Hospice or St. Wenceslaus Altar and Rosary Society.
Leona was born April 22, 1931, in Iowa City, the daughter of Leo and Mary (Kolar) Kron. She graduated from City High School. Leona was united in marriage to Hubert Rummelhart on March 4, 1957, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. She worked at Osco Drug and Drug Town for many years as a cosmetician. Leona was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
Leona is survived by her loving husband, Hubert; one daughter, Sandy Jones of Hamilton, Ill.; two sons, Scott (Michelle) Rummelhart of Hills and Kurt (Trish) Rummelhart of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Nicole Williams, Allison and Anthony Rummelhart and Brandon and Matthew Rummelhart; and three great-grandchildren, Bryce, Brietta and Brody Williams.
Leona was preceded in death by her siblings, Larry Kron, Sally Gertson, Ginger Rieland and Lucille Waldschmidt.
