Leona M. Pohlman, 96, of Manchester, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour before the service Saturday. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Manchester. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home.
Leona Mary-Elizabeth Pohlman was born June 28, 1920, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of William and Clara (Pegum) Downs. She attended Copperhead country school, south of Manchester. On Nov. 6, 1941, she married Lloyd Pohlman. Together the couple farmed in the local area. In addition to helping on the farm, Leona enjoyed gardening, solving word puzzles and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Leona is survived by her sons, Dick (Cindy) Pohlman of Manchester and Randy Pohlman of West Branch; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her son, Wesley Pohlman; a grandson, Doug Pohlman; a great-granddaughter, Justine; and a brother, Elmer Downs.
