Leona M. Mougin, 85, of Iowa City, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Crestview Specialty Care in West Branch.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2018, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City with Father Gary Beckman officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lensing Funeral Home, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City, where a rosary will be recited at 4:45 p.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Leona Mougin Memorial Fund.
Leona was born on Oct. 16, 1932, in Morse, Iowa, the daughter of Eugene and Clara (Stebral) Parsons. She was united in marriage to Victor J. Mougin on Dec. 26, 1951, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. Leona spent her early years of marriage as a farm wife and homemaker. After moving off the farm she worked at the McCleery Cumming Co. in Washington until retirement. Leona and Vic enjoyed camping, weekly dances and snowbirding in Texas. Their recent years were spent attending grandchildren's activities and enjoying family celebrations.
Leona is survived by her five children, Randy (Becky) Mougin of Columbus Junction, Dale (Doris) Mougin of Columbus Junction, Deb (Joe) Gilmere of Washington, Mark (Ginger) Mougin of Byhalia, Miss., and Sherri (John) Hunt of Wapello, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, George (Delores) Parsons.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor; sister, Kathryn Sida; and a brother-in-law, Leo Sida.
