Leona Clemens McGurk passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, at the Solon Retirement Village.
Leona is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, whom she often said were more like sons, Sheila and Bill Boyd, Debbie and Jeff Tedrow, Fran and Mike Jensen. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her daughters, sons-in-laws, ten grandchildren: Kevin Boyd (Kelley Tubbs), Nathan (Sammy) Boyd, Steven Boyd (Laurie Lehman), Drew Randolph, Tiffiny (Brandon) Egbert, Bill Randolph (Stacey Knock), Joe (Brittany) Randolph, Bobbie (Dan) Wegman, Jamie (Mike) Venzon, Paul (Megan) Jensen, and nine (plus one on the way) great-grandchildren.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” McGurk, in 1984; her parents, Frieda and Jacob Clemens; her brother, Jack Clemens and his wife Maxine; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dale and Kay Dahnke, Bill and Marge McGurk, Don and Marita McGurk; and nieces Cathy Clemens and Patty Dahnke Eckermann.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 22, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Iowa City. Visitation will be from 8:30 AM - 10 AM at the Church. Memorials to honor Leona may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Iowa City or Amana Heritage Society.
