Leola Schminkey-Reynolds, 76, of Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at Luther Manor in Dubuque. Funeral service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with visitation to begin one hour prior. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Leola was born Dec. 8, 1941, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Lorene (Tennyson) Lloyd. She graduated from Anamosa High School in 1961. Leola married Allen Schminkey on June 6, 1965, in Cedar Rapids. Allen passed in 1987. She married Paul Reynolds on July 21, 1990, in Ottumwa, Iowa. Paul passed away in 1999. Leola worked as a nurse's aide at St. Luke's Hospital. She also worked at the Anamosa Care Center and Edgewood Manor in Cedar Rapids. Leola enjoyed celebrating her faith and fellowship at church as well as visiting with friends and family. She loved to write letters and send them to friends and loved ones.
Leola is survived by her nieces, Lori (Jim) Bulger of Dubuque and Vicki (Ken) Gifford of Mechanicsville; nephew, Tim Lambert of Peosta; three special great-great-nephews, Jackson, Colin and Henry Hannaman; and other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Lorene; husbands, Allen and Paul; sisters, Carolyn Lambert and Norma Townsend; and brother, Jack Watters.
The family would like to give a special thank-you to the staff at Luther Manor and Hospice of Dubuque for their compassionate care of Leola.
