Leo J. Haman, 52, of Cedar Rapids, passed away July 29, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Lensing's Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road, Coralville, with Father Gary Beckman officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Parkinson's Disease Association Iowa Chapter, PO Box 507, Waukee, IA 50263.
Leo was born Nov. 3, 1961, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Mary (Sedlacek) Haman Jr. He grew up in Swisher, graduated from Prairie High School and later went on to earn his MBA from the University of Iowa. For over 20 years, Leo worked as an electrical engineer for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids where during that time he developed two patents.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Haman of Coralville; stepmother Mary Cole of Swisher; siblings, Bernadette (Michael) Wojtak of Elk Grove Village, Ill., Daniel (Dao) Haman of Boise, Idaho, David (Ann) Haman of Jensen Beach, Fla., Bill Haman of Ankeny, Iowa, Dolores Schlesselman of Baytown, Texas, Irene Tappan of Kalona, Iowa, Joseph Haman of Coralville; half-siblings, John Haman of Iowa City, Jolene (Joe) Bruno of Cedar Rapids and Catherine Haman of Iowa City; nieces and nephews, Jamie Chalupa, Jacob Tappan, Patty Haman, Karen Haman, Shelby Schlesselman, Sara Haman and Michael Haman; and his fiancee, Michelle Kappmeyer.
Leo was preceded in death by his father.
