Lentner, Jerome W. 'Jerry'
Jerome W. “Jerry” Lentner, 68, of Marion, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, by Father Tony Kruse. Parish vigil service: 1 p.m. Sunday, May 12, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will then greet friends from 1:30 until 4 p.m. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Barb; children, Lisa (John) McClenny of Michigan and Julie (Kevin) Schmidt of North Liberty; four grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary, Dylan and Alaina; siblings, Marvin (Helen) Lentner of Virginia, Cathy (Ed) Rowley of Wisconsin, Bill Lentner (Fran Carlson) of Cedar Rapids, Margaret (LaVerne) Carstensen of Robins and Carol (Fred) Timmerman of Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jerry was born Jan. 13, 1945, in Dyersville, Iowa, the son of Emil and Cora (Egloff) Lentner. He graduated from Marion High School with the class of 1964. Jerry married Barbara Shields on Aug. 8, 1970, in Cresco, Iowa. He worked for Lefebure for 26 years, and was most recently employed with James W. Bell Co. Jerry was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, playing cards with friends, and spending time with family and friends.
