Lent, Kenneth V. 'Kenny'
Kenneth V. “Kenny” Lent, 62, of Monticello, died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at his home after lengthy illness. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Cemetery and Memorial Chapel, 4200 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. William Harnish. Cremation has been accorded and burial will be at a future date. Kenny was born on May 2, 1949, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Ruth Lent. He married Susan Armstrong on Feb. 11, 2000, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Kenny was previously married to Marilyn Matthiessen.
Kenny was very proud to have served in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970 and retired from Quaker Oats after 27 years.
He had a contagious laugh, a kid like happiness and loved being around people. Kenny took great pleasure in collecting magazines, Star Wars and Star Trek memorabilia and enjoyed going to the cabin at Lake Delhi.
He wanted to go back to the East Coast to have scallops and shrimp because “everything tastes better there.”
Survivors include his wife, Susan; one son, Tom Lent (Lorene) of Anamosa; two daughters, Tammy Lent of Coralville, and Mary Maurer of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Joseph Lent of Coralville, Travis R.
