Lenore Snelson, 97, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Steve Knudson presiding. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Lenore was born June 23, 1918, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Amos and Bessie (Staskal) Plotz. Lenore was united in marriage to Robert Snelson on July 23, 1955, in Cedar Rapids.
Lenore is survived by her husband, Robert; her children, Dick Nemec (Ken Cameron) and Holly (David) Stotelmyre, both of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Joseph Nemec, Justin Nemec, Christopher (Jessica) Stotelmyre and Matthew Stotelmyre (Javier Ducker); her five great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Nemec, Rachel Nemec, Channing Baisly-Nemec, Aubrey Stotelmyre and Madison Stotelmyre; and a daughter-in-law, Joann Nemec.
Lenore was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Nemec, in 1951; her son, Don Nemec; her siblings, Lorraine Smejkal, Evelyn Wendell, Kenneth Plotz, Robert Plotz, Louise Shulista, John Plotz and Leo Plotz; and her granddaughter, Julie Nemec.
Memorials may be directed to either First Lutheran Church or Meadowview Memory Care Village.
