Lenore Lucille Herman Pearson, 91, of Marion, formerly of Ladora and Marengo, passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Private graveside service will be Friday, Dec. 30, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Pastor Eddie Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Marengo Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will be at a later date. A memorial fund has been established.
Lenore is survived by her daughters, Amy Scofield of The Village, Fla., and Kathy (Ed III) Pettus of Hiawatha; five grandchildren, Tracey (Troy) Eickstaedt of Tallahassee, Fla., Amber (Donovan) Howell of Tallahassee, Fla., Shane (Ashley) Scofield, Valrico, Fla., Eward (Lani) Pettus IV of Cedar Rapids and Michael Pettus of Cedar Rapids; seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Mary Tibbetts and Marcia (Butch) Lamprecht; and a brother, Norman (Jan) Herman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, in April 2016; her parents; a son-in-law, Rick Scofield, in October 2016; five brothers, Earl, Dean, Elmer, Gerald and Keith Herman; a sister, Kathryn Holst; two brothers-in-law, Clyde Pearson and James Tibbetts; and a sister-in-law, Erma Snider.
Lenore Lucille Herman was born March 2, 1925, in Oxford, the daughter of Melvin John and Ernestine Caroline Guth Herman. She graduated from Marengo High School and later received her degree from Iowa State Teachers College. Lenore married Chester Pearson on Dec. 21, 1946. She was a teacher and a loving mother and housewife. She belonged to the Marengo Church of the Nazarene. Lenore was an avid reader, a wonderful cook and a great gardener. Lenore loved to share Jesus' love with everyone.
