Lelia Ellen Patton, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at Northbrook Manor Care Center after a battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with a memorial service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
Ellen was born July 10, 1937, in Walker, Iowa, to Howard James and Isabelle Lelia (Payne) Crow. She was united in marriage to Charles Edward Patton on Sept. 23, 1961, in Cedar Rapids. To this union, four children were born.
Ellen worked as an administrative assistant for several accounting firms throughout her career, including McGladrey. She never actively retired, and still worked part-time during tax season until last year.
Ellen was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Ruth Circle. She loved playing bridge, and had been involved with a local bridge group for over 50 years.
Ellen is survived by her children, Chris (Nancy) Patton of Plymouth, Minn., Curtis Patton (Lisa Deng) of Madison, Wis., Beth (Steven) Patton-Kauten of Portland, Ore., and James (Lora) Patton of Indianola; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Patton of Chicago, Michael Patton of Plymouth and Isabella Patton of Indianola.
She also is survived by five siblings, James (Janice) Crow of Marion, Larry (Diane) Crow of Sumner, Connie Snyder of Quasqueton, David (Joyce) Crow of Waterville, Minn., and Bill (Marilyn) Crow of Quasqueton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles, in 2015.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Ellen's name may be made to Hospice of Mercy or St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
