Leland Jon Miner, 75, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at Hiawatha Care Center after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, in the Chapel of Memories at Cedar Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Miner of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Colleen (Mike) Hunt of Cedar Rapids; and son, Leslie Miner of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Josh (Stephanie) Hunt, Mandy and Nicole Miner; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Jaxon and Ryker Hunt; brother, Carroll (Kathyrn) Miner of Belle Plaine; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Lela Miner; and sister, Betty Macku.
Leland Jon Miner was born Oct. 22, 1941, in Belle Plaine, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Sally Jacobi on Nov. 25, 1961. In his early years, he loved boating and camping with friends and family. Later in life, he enjoyed spending time working on the yard and feeding the birds, enjoying nature. Leland was a fan of various types of music, and loved listening to country music and blues. Leland will be greatly missed by many.
