Cedar Rapids
Leland Kalous, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2025, Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will begin one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial: Anderson Cemetery, Swisher, Iowa.
Leland was born February 17, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Robert and Helen (Netolicky) Kalous. He attended Wilson High School. Leland started off farming and painting with his father. He then worked as a driver for Aggregate Sand & Gravel and a heavy equipment operator for Rathje Construction until his retirement in 2013. Leland was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his stepsons, Michael Heidt of Marion, Iowa and Ron Heidt (Diane Kinion) of Cedar Rapids; 5 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Duane (Carol) Kalous of Cedar Rapids; and his best fur buddy, Bella.
Leland was preceded in death by his parents; significant other, Donna Heidt; brother, Ken Kalous; nephew, Jeremy Kalous; sister-in-law, Patty Kalous; and fur buddy, Izzy.
