LELAND A. JOHNSON
Shellsburg
Leland A. Johnson, 92, of Shellsburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Aug. 28, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at Grace Baptist Church in Marion. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton. Friends may visit with the family after 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Leland is survived by his children, Connie, Lynette, Janine and Susan; and Joyce (Max) Day, Mary Ann (Dwain) Drew, Alice Mae Parker, Don (Linda) Craft and Billiejean (Thomas) Scalise; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; former wife, Doris; three brothers and five sisters.
Leland Alvin was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Benton County, to Charles and Hilma Erikson Johnson. He began his early years in farming, then worked for Cherry-Burrell. Later, he moved west, including Nevada, and worked for a cement plant, retiring at age 70. After retirement, he returned to Cedar Rapids and married Betty Gearhart Craft on Sept. 30, 2000.
Leland enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace Baptist Church or Hospice of Mercy.
