Leland "Lee" Floyd, age 85, died Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Windsor Manor in Vinton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2018, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Garrison with Rev. Mark Leckband officiating. Interment will be held at the Garrison Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Geo G. Luckey American Legion Post #57 and Iowa Military Honors. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., in Vinton. Memorials may be left for St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Lee was born on Nov. 2, 1932, in Benton County, the son of Burnace and Luella (Whitson) Floyd. On Aug. 14, 1953, he was united in marriage to Arlene Schutterle at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.
Lee served as the head of transportation for Vinton community schools for over 30 years.
He loved to fish and spend time at the family cabin on Leach Lake in Minnesota. He enjoyed following the Hawkeyes, working on old cars and tractors, and especially spending time with his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by his daughters, Debra (James) Fleming of Garrison, Rebecca (Richard) Mollenhauer of Central City and Barbara (Tiger) Campbell of Vinton; his grandchildren, Sherri (Matt) Lampe of Garrison, Scott (Louise) Fleming of Mount Auburn, Roni (Josh) Frye of Garrison, Jamee (Andy) Erger of Brandon, Kacie Campbell of Vinton, Drew Mollenhauer and Lane Mollenhauer, both of Central City; his great-grandchildren, Christopher, Alana, Katelyn and Madison Fleming, Elisabeth Lampe, Klay, Harlan and Oakley Frye, Kayleigh, Amiliah and Davennah Erger and one on the way; his sister, Pam McGrane; and brother, Ronald Gunn, both of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene, in 2011; his sister, Jean Byerly; and his great-granddaughter, Emma Lampe.
