Lehrman, Erwin L.
Erwin L. Lehrman, 96, of Stanwood, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Stanwood, with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial: Stanwood Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Survivors include his daughters, Karen (Richard) Hass of Cedar Rapids, Sandra (Wally) Jennings of Davenport, Roma (David) Panther of Coralville and Lana (Russell) Dettbarn of Blue Grass; brothers, Merle (Maxine) and Frederick (Marge), both of Stanwood; sister, Eloise Wood of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Pauline; and brother, Louis.
Born Feb. 4, 1914, in Cedar County, Iowa, the son of Herman and Anna (Luedeman) Lehrman, he married Violet Reinking on March 20, 1938, in Ireton, Iowa. She died Jan. 14, 2001.
Erwin and Violet farmed 38 years southwest of Stanwood and he was awarded the 1957 Master Swine Producer award. After retirement they moved to Stanwood. Erwin had been a resident of Prairie Hills Assisted Living in Tipton for the past three years. He was a member of St. Paul's Church and the Gideons. Erwin spoke of his faith in Christ Jesus to everyone he met.
