His first job was when he was only 12 years old. He worked for a local grocery store stocking shelves. He
had to quit school in the eighth grade to help his parents. At 16 years old, he went
to work for the railroad, working for about six years on the steam engine. He also worked for the 7-Up Bottling Co. He moved to Armstrong, Iowa, in 1979, where he worked for Arts Way for about five years, for a pig farmer and 19 years for State Line Co-op. He retired in the fall of 2011 at the age of 85, but that didn't stop him from helping out the farmers in the summer. He was an assistant scoutmaster for seven years. He also was a volunteer firefighter. Lee was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong.
He married Beverly Moran on July 23, 1950. They had a son, Phillip (Mary) Tucker. They divorced and he met Marian Torgerson. They moved to Tenstrike, Minn., where they ran a bar/restaurant/gas station. They were together for 30 years until Marian died in 2001.
He helped raise five sons, Roy, Bill, Jim, Larry Dyslin and Tim Torgerson; and three daughters, Debra Torgerson-Reid, Wanda Torgerson-Westercamp and Tammie Torgerson-Shroll.
He is survived by his son, Phillip (Mary) Tucker; his stepsons, Bill, Jim and Larry Dyslin and Tim Torgerson; his stepdaughters, Wanda Torgerson-Westercamp and Tammie Torgerson-Shroll.
