LeClere, Jeanette E.
Jeanette E. LeClere
5/11/1921 - 2/17/2011
Mass of Christian Burial for Jeanette E. LeClere will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Casper, Wyo., with Monsignor James O'Neill as celebrant. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. followed by the parish rosary at 7 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home in Casper. Interment will be at Oregon Trail Cemetery, Casper, immediately following the mass, where Jeanette will be joined with the cremains of her husband, Kenneth Charles LeClere.
A long time Casper resident, Jeanette passed from this earth to be with our Lord on Feb. 17, 2011, at Life Care Center in Casper, Wyo.
She was born May 11, 1921, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Henry and Elizabeth DeMarah. She grew up with one sister and two brothers and married Kenneth Charles LeClere on Sept. 21, 1939. In 1954, Ken and Jeanette relocated to Casper, Wyo., where they established their home. Jeanette served the Casper community as the Western Welcome hostess from 1957-1979. She was president of the Casper Newcomers Club, treasurer of St. Anthony's Ladies Fellowship, a coordinator for the St. Anthony's funeral meals, and an avid volunteer for the Holy Cross Center. In addition, she and her husband were the first presidents of the Cana Club of Casper and managed the Catholic Conference Center from 1980-1994.
People who knew Jeanette would describe her as a very gentle and welcoming person who knew no strangers. She loved to play bridge, cook, walk and help those less fortunate than herself. She always made a point of saying how lucky she was and her graciousness was endless.
She is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Nelson, Michelle Killmer, Laura Zook (Brian) of Casper, Mary Perkins (Mark) of Torrington; a son, Kenneth Charles “K.C.” (Shelley) of Casper; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth; her parents; one sister and two brothers. She will be missed by her extended family in Cedar Rapids, as well as her friends at St. Anthony's Manor and the caregivers at Life Care Nursing Home.
Throughout her life she was a devoted and caring mother and grandmother and will forever be in our hearts. We will miss you!
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Anthony's Catholic Church or St. Anthony's School would be appreciated. Contributions may be made through Newcomer Funeral Home.
