Lebo, Caroline 'Carrie'

Caroline “Carrie” Lebo, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 10, 2011, in her home following a long illness. Services: private. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include her son, Steve I. Lebo and wife Maggie of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Cathy Lebo of Cedar Rapids; and her grandchildren, Nicholas T. Lebo and Nicole M. Lebo, both of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merlin E. Lebo; and a son, Paul F. Lebo.

Carrie was born June 1, 1929, in Taylorville, Ill., the daughter of Mathew J. Gillen and Norene E. McNutt. She married Merlin E. Lebo on Sept. 23, 1951, in Tijuana. He died in 1980. Carrie was the manager of food service at Meth-Wick for 27 years and was also a volunteer at Pierce Elementary School.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, her flower gardens, and going to the Riverside Casino to play her favorite slot machine “Money to Burn.”

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was loved by all she met.
