LEATTE M. ALLEN
Cedar Rapids
Leatte Margaret Allen, 95, of Cedar Rapids, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist, 5338 Johnson Ave. SW, by the Rev. Jay Jentink.
She is survived by her son, James (Carol) Allen; her grandchildren, Sarah (Austin) Temperley of Bagdad, Ariz., Jonathan (Emily) Allen of Lakeland, Fla., and Mark (Rebecca Boscaljon) Allen of Cedar Rapids; and her great-grandchildren, Jack, Lydia, Holly and Bethany Temperley and Lily, Elsa and Linus Allen.
Leatte was born April 19, 1923, in Poweshiek County, the daughter of Irvan and Cora (Van Gorp) James. She married Charles E. Allen on March 2, 1946, in Montezuma, Iowa. They moved to Cedar Rapids in 1950. She loved to have family and friends over for meals and baked breads and cookies for her grandchildren and shut-ins. She loved her family and prayed for them frequently.
She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, serving as deaconess, Sunday school teacher and MOPS worker for many years. Her greatest joy was in serving Jesus.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Calvary Baptist.
