LeAnn G. Viter, 63, of Mount Vernon, died Monday, June 22, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 26, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon (formerly Morgan's).
Survivors include her husband, Gary; daughters, Stephanie Viter of Mount Vernon and Brandi (Lee Pitlik) Viter-Pitlik of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Benjamin Hopkins; sister, Karen (Daryl) Annis of Troy Mills; special friends, Cindy Bowers, Rick Onstott, Donna Jo Elsner and the "oldies" from St. Luke's; mother-in-law, Mary Viter; sisters-in-law, Cindy (Paula Calmer) Viter and Marsha (John) Heims; many nieces and nephews; and her special pet, Rosie.
LeAnn was born in Cedar Rapids on March 21, 1952, the daughter of Mike and Lucille Oliphant. She graduated from North Linn High School in 1970. On June 5, 1971, she married Gary Viter in Troy Mills. LeAnn went on to earn her LPN from St. Luke's School of Nursing and her RN from Kirkwood Community College. She worked at St. Luke's Hospital for 30 years, both as a neonatal intensive care nurse and in the WIC Clinic. LeAnn enjoyed collecting antiques, reading books and going to the casino. Her family will especially remember the fishing trips to Wisconsin and camping in Tama. LeAnn also enjoyed her many friends and the many card games they shared.
LeAnn was preceded in death by her parents; and her father-in-law, Ward Viter.
