Leah Ryan, 31, of Fort Collins, Colo., formerly of Marion, passed away May 1, 2022. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 13, at Faith Bible Church. 1800 46th St. NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at the church with an hour visitation, beginning at 9 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Leah was born Aug. 14, 1990, to Scott and Diane (Jacobi) Ryan in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 2008. She went on to receive her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Iowa State University. She taught in the Waukee School District for a while before she moved to Phoenix, Ariz., and worked as behavioral therapist. She then moved to Fort Collins, Colo., where she returned to teaching and taught at Mary Blair Elementary School.
She enjoyed reading and especially loved to dance. She was a member of the Dance Company in Marion, Linn-Mar Poms, and the Iowa State Dance Team. Teaching was very important to her; she was passionate about educating her students and making sure her students knew they were loved. She was a life-long learner and loved to learn. Leah shared that passion to learn with her students.
Leah was a bright light and will be truly missed by all those who knew her.
She is survived by her loving parents, Scott and Diane Ryan of Mount Vernon, Iowa; her sister and best friend, Laura Ryan of Phoenix, Ariz.; her grandmother, Donna Jacobi of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and special pet companions her dog, Stella and her cat, George Rambo; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Larry and Lona Ryan and Gary Jacobi; her great-grandmother, Esther Jacobi; and her dog, Nico.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. In Leah's honor, a donation will be made to her local dance studio and Mary Blair Elementary in Loveland, Colo.
