Lawrence G. Steggall Jr., 76, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, at home, following a lengthy illness. A memorial service celebrating Lawrence's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at St. James United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carol Sundberg officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Cheryle; daughters, Kimberli Steggall of Cedar Rapids, Kari (Dennis) Moore of Des Moines, Kelli (Rick) Buresh of Cedar Rapids, Kathi Steggall of Cedar Rapids and Kristi Steggall-Hill of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Dustin and Drake Dunbar, Corey and Callie Moore and Trey Hill; stepgrandchildren, Chad and Barry Buresh and Megan Uridge; stepgreat-grandchildren, Grant, Gabby and Hannah Buresh and Reece Uridge; and siblings, Daniel Steggall of Riverside, Fla., Sandra (Clark) Drew of Vinton and Bonnie Johnson of
California.
He was
preceded in death by his parents.
Lawrence Gerald Steggall Jr. was born April 29, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Lawrence Gerald and Lucylle (Barta) Steggall. On April 19, 1958, he married Cheryle Vosmek in Cedar Rapids. Lawrence worked in machine maintenance for LeFebure Inc. for 32 years. He enjoyed bowling, remote control model airplanes and helicopters and especially being with his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
