Lawrence, Linda S.
Linda S. Lawrence, 63, of Coralville, died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a lengthy battle with diabetes. A memorial mass will be held at a later date. A time of gathering for family and friends will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City.
Linda Susan Schlueter was born June 7, 1948, in Belleville, Ill., the daughter of Norman and Lillian (Nold) Schlueter. She was united in marriage to Philip Lawrence on May 9, 1970, in Carbondale, Ill. The couple has lived in this area for many years where Linda has been a teacher for students with behavior disorders for over 32 years. She started her career at University of Iowa Hospital School in 1979, continued on with Grant Wood Area Education Agency, and retired from teaching with the Iowa City school district in 2006. During this time she attained her master's degree in behavior disorders from the University of Iowa. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City.
Her family includes her husband, Philip; daughter, Christine Reid of Coralville; grandsons, Cory and Josh Reid of Coralville; sister, Barbara Kuenne of California; brother and his wife, Bill and Margaret Schlueter of Fairview Heights, Ill.; mother-in-law, Pauline Lawrence of Arcola, Ill.; sister-in-law, Linda Wickersham of Arcola, Ill.; as well as four nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, Linda had asked that memorial donations be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
