Lawrence “Larry” Wynn Crock, 79, of the Town of Baileys Harbor, Wis.,, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., with his wife by his side.
Larry was born on Dec. 9, 1943, to the late Lawrence and June (Johnson) Crock in Davenport, Iowa. He was a 1962 graduate of Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After high school, he attended Central College in Pella, Iowa. He worked for Miehle-Goss-Dexter and later for CIC, a related equipment organization, until he retired in 2006.
Larry was united in marriage to Cynthia Ann Clark on March 6, 1976, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The couple lived most of their lives in Cedar Rapids but eventually moved to Naperville, Ill. While living in Naperville for 15 years, they would often find their way north to Door County, Wis., to vacation. With their growing love for Door County, they made it their permanent residence in 2008.
Larry was a member of the Rotary Club of Door County North in Baileys Harbor and Immanuel Lutheran Church LCMC. He enjoyed wood working, volunteering with Feed and Clothe My People, and the Ridges Sanctuary.
Larry is survived by his wife, Cynthia; daughters, Amanda (Andre) Ingram and Denise (Andy) Helle; grandchildren, Zachary (Paige) Christensen, Ericka (Sean) McHale, Jason Rizzo, and Ashalin Ingram; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Rose McHale and Ellis Louise Christensen; stepbrother, Phillip (Sharon) Geiger; stepsister, Pam (Allen) Knott; and brother-in-law, Mark Allan Clark. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Alvin Crock; mother, June Geiger; mother-in-law, Charlotte Glynn; and special friend and mentor, Bill Boettcher.
A memorial service for Larry will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baileys Harbor, 7973 WI-57, Baileys Harbor, WI, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Gary Scharrig officiating. Inurnment will be at Baileys Harbor Town Cemetery. Visitation will start at 9 a.m. and continue until the time of service. The service will also be accessible via Facebook at Immanuel Lutheran Church-Baileys Harbor. Memorials in Larry’s name may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church, P.O. Before Larry’s passing, he wanted to express a special thank-you to God, the Trinity, his wife and Bill Boettcher, as well as Pastor Gary and his mother-in-law Charlotte Glynn for their support and leadership over the years. Larry’s family would like to thank the personnel at Door County Medical Center, particularly Dr. Bravo, Jenn and Gwen. Also, Unity Hospice staff, Erica and Kelsie.
