LaVonne “Bonnie” G. Rule, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, at Winslow House Care facility in Marion, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Born Aug 21, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Alice (Davis) and George Hoover. She is survived by her daughters Dora Sampson and Janie (Steven) Myers; four grandchildren, Chuck, Kari, Melissa, and Dawn; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Phillip, Jimmy, Loyal and LaVerne Hoover; and sister, Rosa Geiger.
Bonnie found great joy surrounded by nature and loved sharing her vast knowledge and wisdom of the outdoors with everyone she knew. A self-taught hobbyist, she generously shared her creativity with her family and friends. She is so loved and will be greatly missed.
