LaVonn Messerly of Marion, Iowa, passed peacefully in her sleep Jan 6, 2026. She is preceded in death by her parents; William “Vallie” and Ann Musfelt of Traer, IA as well as her loving husband of 65 years Roger “Bud” Messerly.
She is survived by their two daughters, Gayl Clay (David) of Fayetteville, AR and Dana Capouch (Chip Novetzke) of Marion, IA. She’s also survived by her five grandchildren; Eric Johnson (Jennifer), Anna Prescott (Hal), Kyle Johnson (April), Shelby Roelfs (Jake), and Jared Capouch (Miranda) and twelve great-grandchildren, Ellie, Isabel, Andrew, Eliza, Isaiah, Grace, Raye, Carrie, Owen, Josie, Maggie and Sonny.
LaVonn was an avid quilter, gardener and antique lover who found joy in creating beauty and uncovering hidden treasures. She also shared a deep love of travel with Bud, especially their cherished trips to Sanibel Island, Florida. The family finds comfort in knowing they are together again, no doubt continuing their adventures and searching out only the very best treasures.
A visitation will be held Monday Jan 12, 2026, from 9-11 am at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
